Priest Marries in Australia

A news story has broken about a priest in Australia who has admitted that he has been secretly married for a year. The article also says that there are many more like him in the world. The link is at the bottom of this article.

 

Now MSNBC ran the story and since I believe MSNBC lies through their teeth about most things, I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Still, if it is true, then this priest is saying that there are more priests like him and if that's true, then I'm pretty sad about the whole situation.

We understand they have those same needs as most men seem to think they need, but as a man of God, God gives our priests the grace to not desire things of this world but only of the next.

I'm not entirely against a priest being married, but there are some reasons for celibacy. One, St. Paul talks about how it is better to be celibate, but if you can't be, then be married. Course in today's culture, being married is no longer a prerequisite to people having sex.

As I stated in my previous post, tv plays a lot into how people lead their lives and priests are human, too. If priests watch the same garbage the rest of the world watches, I would think that it would be pretty hard for them to live their life of celibacy.

What many people fail to understand is that celibacy is a discipline, not a doctrine and began when men, themselves, decided to forsake others in favor of living for God alone. God does not exactly say a priest has to be celibate, but again, we fall back on St. Paul's words regarding his own vocation of being celibate. And he was a priest of God's.

Mary, herself, was given so many graces to help her in this life retain her virginity, to not lust for man. Priests are given these very same graces and are not required to become a priest, but rather have chosen to be one. It is an admirable profession, even if most of mankind doesn't recognize it as such.

I was glad to see that his bishop is removing him from his duties. The same thing happened to Father Corapi. These men are given a long discernment period in the beginning to decided, can they be a priest, do they really want to be a priest and can they live up to their own vows, just as we are to live up to our marriage vows.

So we need to pray hard for our priests. The devil is working hard today to try and take them from God before the end of time. If we are in the end times, then our prayers need to be especially fervent for those men who are to lead their flocks to heaven.

When Did Our Morals Disappear?

I think the main problem of where our morality has gone in this country and in this world is - through the media - television and the movies. Everything we see, no matter how clean it seems to be on the outside, revolves around sex. It's like it's the only thing people can think about. And having raised a child in the 80's and 90's, if I were to do it over again, I would join the growing band wagon of not allowing her to watch tv OR watch many movies in my home. I, myself, have pretty much barred myself from network tv because it is so disgusting. I limit myself to TCM movies from the 40's and early 50's because after that, everything goes downhill.

And if this isn't bad enough, many states now have 'sex education' classes in high school because our children need to be taught about safe sex, abortion and birth control. Please. Why do kids have to learn about sex at all when they are in high school? Certainly it's not because they've matured enough to handle it. I mean, what the heck, if I get pregnant, I'll have an abortion. Right? Isn't that how they think? Do these kids realize what they are doing to their immortal souls? Do the parents? It doesn't seem like it and it doesn't seem like they even care.

One high school in this country had a group of college kids come in to teach on safe sex and whatever, and ended up talking about sex fetishes and other just as disgusting topics that juniors in high school do not need to know about.

This wasn't so bad as when the story broke in the media. Then I saw where the parents and people in general were standing up for this college in what they were doing, applauding them and telling us who opposed this that it's none of our business and they're glad kids are learning these things in school. Excuse me? Course there were a few slams at us about being Catholic. What ever happened to our parents being the teachers of things like this? Whatever happened to parents teaching their children abstinence instead of safe sex? It used to be that boys were the agressors when it came to sex. But now, we see girls doing all sorts of immoral behavior and for what? To get a guy? To get a free ticket to hell? Why is it the Catholic Church is practically the only Church to teach morals anymore? Where is God in everyone's life? No where? No one cares that these sex-filled activities are sinful if they are unmarried? And yes, if they are gay?

I read in Saint Faustina's diary that many people will end up in hell because they do not believe that hell exists. Well if they believe that, then do people also not believe in God? Or is God too loving to send anyone to hell? Here's a hint people: God does NOT send us to hell; we send ourselves via our SINS. You know - those things we do that offend God. If anyone on this green earth believes that all of this sex doesn't offend God, then you might as well pack your little bags for the next train to hell. Seriously.

I think I'm just getting tired from all the shock that we are exposed to today in the news and just when you think you've seen it all, something worse comes out. Are we ever going to hit bottom and start going back to God? Or is our world in for another "Noah's Ark" or "Sodom and Gomorrha?" God will punish this world for its sins. He has done it over and over again throughout history, and still people live as if God doesn't exist at all. I can't take it.

Well I'll get off my soap box now. Just think about what I said and if you don't believe me, you better start reading the Bible and read it for what it says. God means what He says. Seriously. He does.

Our Sorrowful Mother

With this country in the worse shape it's ever been in, and with, IMO, the worse president we've ever had, I want you to think about your own sufferings because of all of this and consider this for a minute. According to our Holy Church when recalling only seven of Our Lady's sorrows, the sufferings of the Mother of God cannot be comprehended. Her life, like that of her Divine Son, was a continuous series of sufferings and tribulations. Mary had her own way of the cross and not one person who has ever lived on this earth suffered like she did, other than her own Son, Our Lord .

After reading this, I began to think about how selfish I am, especially when it comes to the daily sufferings we all have, which are small in comparison. We get an sore toe or a headache or break a bone or something and it's like the worst thing ever. OR worse yet, we lose a spouse, parent or child and have to face life alone without that person until eternity, IF we make it to heaven.

The purpose of the Devotion is to promote union with the sufferings of Christ through union with the special suffering that Our Lady endured because she was the Mother of God. By uniting ourselves with both the Passion of Christ and His holy Mother, we enter into Jesus' Heart and honor Him greatly; He is more honored because we have so honored His Mother.

So I'm thinking about trying to begin a devotion to Our Sorrowful Mother. I know others have done this devotion and have liked it a lot. There are so many devotions we Catholics can do, but to specifically pick something out that touches our heart takes some thought sometimes. We know that the devotion to the rosary is the best one of anything. The Sorrowful Mother devotion teaches us the sorrowful mysteries of Mary from the Gospels, which we really don't hear that much about other than the two feast days the Church has in honor of the Sorrowful Mother - the Friday before Good Friday and September 15.

Stupid Catholic Voters...

There are some Catholics out there that just don't get it...or don't care, but will one day- Judgement Day. I am not talking about all Catholic voters here... just the stupid and/or defiant ones.

President Obama has attacked the Catholic Church and it's teachings on everything from abortion to embryonic stem cell research, from gay marriage to religious liberty (HHS Mandate) and more, yet some *coughSTUPIDcough* Catholic voters just don't care. They will support Obama as he butchers preborn children with his agenda, they will continue to support Obama as he attempts to force the Catholic Church to close down it's hospitals, charities, adoption agencies (has already happened in some states because of gay "marriage" (as if!). And still the delusional Catholic voter marches on following Obama's one-way-to-hell policies.

It can't be mere ignorance that so many Catholics support Obama - the Bishops have been very vocal these last several months on the issue of the HHS Mandate- and even non-Catholics know the Church's standing on abortion and gay marriage- so what's left? Sheer stupidity and defiant rejection of clear Church teachings.

Catholic Catechism: #2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. 75
God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes. 76

#2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae," 77 "by the very commission of the offense," 78 and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. 79 The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

It doesn't get any plainer than that, yet some STILL don't get it- especially Catholic politicians so the Church offers this...

IV. POSITIONS OF CATHOLIC POLITICIANS
WITH REGARD TO LEGISLATION IN FAVOUR
OF HOMOSEXUAL UNIONS

10. If it is true that all Catholics are obliged to oppose the legal recognition of homosexual unions, Catholic politicians are obliged to do so in a particular way, in keeping with their responsibility as politicians. Faced with legislative proposals in favour of homosexual unions, Catholic politicians are to take account of the following ethical indications.

When legislation in favour of the recognition of homosexual unions is proposed for the first time in a legislative assembly, the Catholic law-maker has a moral duty to express his opposition clearly and publicly and to vote against it. To vote in favour of a law so harmful to the common good is gravely immoral.

When legislation in favour of the recognition of homosexual unions is already in force, the Catholic politician must oppose it in the ways that are possible for him and make his opposition known; it is his duty to witness to the truth. If it is not possible to repeal such a law completely, the Catholic politician, recalling the indications contained in the Encyclical Letter Evangelium vitae, could licitly support proposals aimed at limiting the harm done by such a law and at lessening its negative consequences at the level of general opinion and public morality, on condition that his absolute personal opposition to such laws was clear and well known and that the danger of scandal was avoided.(18) This does not mean that a more restrictive law in this area could be considered just or even acceptable; rather, it is a question of the legitimate and dutiful attempt to obtain at least the partial repeal of an unjust law when its total abrogation is not possible at the moment.


CONCLUSION

11. The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behaviour or to legal recognition of homosexual unions. The common good requires that laws recognize, promote and protect marriage as the basis of the family, the primary unit of society. Legal recognition of homosexual unions or placing them on the same level as marriage would mean not only the approval of deviant behaviour, with the consequence of making it a model in present-day society, but would also obscure basic values which belong to the common inheritance of humanity. The Church cannot fail to defend these values, for the good of men and women and for the good of society itself.

The Sovereign Pontiff John Paul II, in the Audience of March 28, 2003, approved the present Considerations, adopted in the Ordinary Session of this Congregation, and ordered their publication."

What will some Catholic voters say to God on Judgement Day? I wouldn't bet on "I didn't know!!" working after all the Church has done to make sure Catholics are well informed.
